Senior leaders from the United Arab Emirates and Italy have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation across key sectors after high-level meetings in Rome focused on economic collaboration, regional security and technological development.

During a working visit to the Italian capital, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, held talks with Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of the Italy, to discuss the growing partnership between the two nations and explore new opportunities for cooperation.

At the start of the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah conveyed the greetings of Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, along with his wishes for continued progress and prosperity for Italy and its people. In response, Meloni asked Sheikh Abdullah to convey her greetings to the UAE president and expressed her wishes for ongoing prosperity and well-being for the Emirates and its citizens.

The discussions focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the UAE and Italy, with both sides highlighting the steady growth of bilateral relations in recent years. Officials reviewed current cooperation frameworks and explored ways to expand collaboration in a range of areas including trade, investment, renewable energy, sustainability and emerging technologies.

Economic cooperation featured prominently during the talks, reflecting the increasing importance of commercial ties between the two countries. Both sides discussed opportunities to enhance investment flows and strengthen partnerships between businesses and institutions in sectors seen as central to future economic growth.

During his visit to Rome, Sheikh Abdullah also held separate talks with Antonio Tajani, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The meeting between the two foreign ministers focused on practical pathways for expanding bilateral cooperation and strengthening political coordination between the two governments. Discussions covered economic and investment cooperation as well as partnerships in innovation, renewable energy and advanced technologies.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to deepening the UAE-Italy strategic partnership and exploring new initiatives that could boost economic growth and create opportunities for businesses in both countries.

The diplomats also reviewed the wider regional and international situation, including recent developments in the Middle East.
