Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, is scheduled to visit Tehran on Thursday for a new round of consultations with Iranian officials as diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Tehran continues to intensify.
The visit comes amid ongoing discussions linked to Pakistan’s reported efforts to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the United States over regional issues and broader diplomatic tensions.
According to Iranian Students’ News Agency, the Pakistani military chief’s visit follows the arrival of Pakistan’s Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran on Wednesday for the second time this week. During the visit, Naqvi held talks with Iran’s Interior Minister and also met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
During the meetings, the two sides reviewed the latest regional developments and bilateral relations, while also discussing the current status of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States. Officials additionally examined the implementation of previous agreements and the continuation of diplomatic consultations.
ISNA reported that both sides stressed the importance of maintaining political dialogue and strengthening regional cooperation amid ongoing instability in the region. Discussions also focused on diplomatic initiatives and mechanisms aimed at promoting regional stability and security.
Naqvi conveyed the messages and views of Pakistani officials regarding the latest developments and emphasised the importance of continuing dialogue and mutual understanding between all parties involved.
