UAE condemns Iranian strikes on Gulf states, backs regional security

The condemnation came as Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps claimed responsibility for strikes on US military facilities in Bahrain and Jordan amid escalating hostilities with Washington….reports Asian Lite News Desk

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday strongly condemned Iran’s renewed missile and drone attacks targeting Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan and Oman, describing them as a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of neighbouring countries and a threat to regional security and stability.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed full solidarity with the five countries and reaffirmed its support for all measures aimed at safeguarding their security.

“The Ministry affirmed that these hostile attacks constitute a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the brotherly nations, and a threat to their security and stability,” the statement said.

It also reiterated the UAE’s “full solidarity” with Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan and Oman, backing efforts to preserve their security and stability amid rising regional tensions.

The condemnation came as Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) claimed it had carried out a series of strikes against US military facilities in Bahrain and Jordan in retaliation for continued American attacks on Iranian targets.

According to statements issued by the IRGC and carried by Press TV, the force’s Navy targeted several US military facilities in Bahrain, including weapons support depots, a satellite communications centre, accommodation used by American personnel and multiple military radar systems.

The IRGC also claimed that its Aerospace Force launched coordinated missile and drone attacks on the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, alleging that the strikes set fuel storage facilities ablaze.

According to the IRGC, the attacks also destroyed a Patriot radar system, the Fifth Fleet’s air-control radar and a C-RAM early warning radar system.

In a separate statement, the IRGC said it had fired a ballistic missile at what it described as a key US military installation in Jordan.

“This base had been used to launch attacks against us, and the American criminals have now been made to pay for their actions,” the statement said, while stressing that the operation was not directed against the Jordanian people.

The latest developments came as the United States continued military operations against Iran for a third consecutive night.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement that it had launched another round of strikes on Monday at the direction of President Donald Trump.

“At 4:45 p.m. ET today, US Central Command began launching the third consecutive night of strikes against Iran, at the Commander in Chief’s direction,” CENTCOM said.

Earlier on Monday, Trump said the US would intensify its military campaign.

“We’re going to hit them very hard tonight, and we’re going to hit them hard tomorrow,” he told reporters at the White House.

Trump also argued that wealthy Gulf nations should help finance US military operations in the region, saying Washington continues to bear the cost of protecting allies despite no longer relying heavily on Middle Eastern oil.

“I want to be reimbursed because we’re protecting a very rich portion of the world,” Trump said, adding that the United States was ensuring the security of key regional partners while maintaining stability in the Gulf.

The exchange of strikes marks a further escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States, raising concerns over the security of the Gulf region and the potential impact on regional stability and international shipping.
