The UAE State Security Department has announced the dismantling of a covert terrorist network accused of plotting to destabilise the country through coordinated sabotage and extremist activity, in what officials describe as a significant pre-emptive security operation.
Authorities said the group had been operating in secrecy, with members allegedly working to undermine national unity and public safety by planning systematic attacks on key locations across the United Arab Emirates. Investigators uncovered what they described as a structured network with both domestic and international links, including ideological alignment with Iran’s Wilayat al-Faqih doctrine.
According to officials, those arrested had adopted extremist views and were actively engaged in recruitment and mobilisation efforts. These operations were reportedly conducted through clandestine meetings and coordinated strategies designed to expand influence and gain access to sensitive sites within the country. The group is also accused of attempting to influence Emirati youth by spreading misleading narratives and encouraging allegiance to foreign entities.
Security agencies said surveillance operations revealed that members of the organisation maintained contact with external actors and suspicious groups, both within the region and beyond. These connections were allegedly used to facilitate funding channels and operational planning. Funds were reportedly raised through unofficial means and transferred abroad, raising concerns about external interference in domestic affairs.
Charges brought against those detained include establishing and managing a secret organisation, pledging loyalty to foreign powers, and engaging in activities aimed at weakening social cohesion and national stability. Authorities stressed that such actions represent a direct threat to public order and the country’s long-standing emphasis on unity and security.
The State Security Department reaffirmed its commitment to confronting threats to the nation, stating that vigilance and public cooperation remain key pillars in maintaining safety. Residents and citizens have been urged to report suspicious activities through official channels, reinforcing what officials describe as a collective responsibility in safeguarding the country.

The Kingdom of Bahrain issued a strong statement denouncing what it described as a “blatant terrorist and sabotage plot”, while praising Emirati authorities for their efficiency in dismantling the network. Bahrain reaffirmed its support for all measures taken to protect the UAE’s sovereignty and stability.
Similarly, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan condemned the plot as a serious attempt to threaten national security, reiterating its rejection of terrorism in all forms. Jordanian officials expressed full backing for the UAE’s efforts to ensure the safety and wellbeing of its citizens and residents.
Kuwait also commended the operation, highlighting the vigilance of UAE security agencies in thwarting what could have posed a significant threat. The Kuwaiti government reiterated its stance against extremism and pledged continued support for regional efforts to combat terrorism.
The Sultanate of Oman joined regional partners in condemning any attempts to destabilise the UAE, stressing its commitment to cooperation and good neighbourly relations in addressing security challenges.
