Dubai to host world’s biggest tech bash

Running from 7–11 December 2026 at Expo City Dubai, GITEX TechCation will bring together the world’s leading technology companies…reports Asian Lite News

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has directed that GITEX TechCation 2026 be developed into the world’s largest event in technology and artificial intelligence. The event, to be organised under the supervision of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, will position Dubai as a year-end global destination for innovation, investment, and lifestyle.

Running from 7–11 December 2026 at Expo City Dubai, GITEX TechCation will bring together the world’s leading technology companies, startups, investors, and innovators for a citywide celebration of tech, creativity, and business opportunity. The event is set to merge Dubai’s cutting-edge technological landscape with its vibrant culture, lifestyle, and tourism, creating an immersive experience for participants.

As the first step in preparations, the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) signed a Strategic Partnership to support and promote the event. The agreement, formalised between Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, and Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of DWTC, will leverage DET’s extensive hospitality, tourism, and cultural networks to create a TechCation programme that connects global tech talent with Dubai’s lifestyle offerings.

Issam Kazim said, “GITEX has long been more than just a tech show, and this new era, guided by our visionary leadership, is poised to elevate its global importance. GITEX TechCation will seamlessly blend innovation with Dubai’s unmatched lifestyle, showcasing the city as a premier destination for business and leisure.”

Trixie LohMirmand added, “GITEX TechCation represents a bold reconfiguration of global tech events. It will harness Dubai’s full energy – culture, lifestyle, and spirit – delivering the ethos of ‘Tech Hard, Live Hard’ through the most immersive citywide activations.”

Dubai’s global appeal underpins the conceptualisation of GITEX TechCation. The city has been ranked No.1 worldwide in Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards for three consecutive years (2022–2024). Its rapidly growing culinary scene also adds allure, with 119 restaurants featured in the 2025 MICHELIN Guide, including 19 MICHELIN-starred venues, and two restaurants listed among The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

By embedding the world’s largest tech and investor network within Dubai’s cultural and tourism landscape, GITEX TechCation 2026 reinforces the city’s position as a magnet for talent, foreign investment, and commerce. Dubai ranked first globally in Greenfield FDI projects for the eighth consecutive half-year period in H1 2025 and topped the Savills Executive Nomad Index, making it one of the world’s most attractive destinations for entrepreneurs, tech professionals, and investors alike.

The event aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, aiming to position the city among the world’s top three global cities by 2033. GITEX TechCation is expected to set a new benchmark for global tech events, attracting international delegates to experience innovation, culture, and lifestyle in one of the world’s most forward-looking cities.
