The much-awaited Mammootty–Vinayakan starrer Kalamkaval, directed by Jithin K Jose, has finally secured a new release date. The makers announced that the film will now hit theatres worldwide on December 5, 2025, ending weeks of speculation among fans eagerly waiting for updates.
The announcement came through Mammootty Kampany’s official Instagram handle, where the team wrote, “We know you’ve waited long… The wait will be worth it… Kalamkaval in cinemas worldwide from December 5, 2025. Keep calm and wait for him…” The fresh update arrives after the film’s earlier planned release on November 27 was postponed, leading to widespread curiosity and disappointment among fans.
When the delay was announced, the production house reassured viewers, saying, “Delayed, NOT diminished. We hear you… The wait is noted. The Venom Beneath will arrive soon!” The messaging maintained the mystery and intensity surrounding the film, which has been marketed with the intriguing tagline, “The venom beneath.”

It opens with a knock at a door, followed by a Tamil-speaking man asking, “Who are you?” The mood shifts as a police officer questions someone unseen: “Are you the one who’s Nath?” This sets the tone for a gripping narrative featuring intense glimpses of Mammootty and Vinayakan. Vinayakan appears as a stern, brooding police officer, while Mammootty’s role remains shrouded in secrecy—cool, composed, and quietly observing, giving rise to several theories about his character.
Posters and promotions have further fuelled speculation. Promotional lines such as “Some faces raise questions… Not answers…” have sparked curiosity about Mammootty’s character arc, with industry rumours hinting that he may be playing a role with shades of grey. Kalamkaval, the seventh production under Mammootty Kampany, completed filming in November last year. Directed by Jithin K Jose, the film features story and screenplay by Jose and Jishnu Sreekumar.
