India has the potential to become the world’s “connector economy” by linking global markets, supply chains and geopolitical blocs in an increasingly fragmented world, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra said.
In his letter to shareholders on Monday, Mahindra said India’s economic strengths, strategic position and growing global credibility place the country at the centre of the emerging global economic order.
“India’s economic strengths, strategic position and growing global credibility place it at the centre of the emerging world order,” Mahindra said, highlighting the country’s opportunity to play a greater role in global commerce.
The statement came as the Mahindra Group reported its strongest financial performance to date. The company recorded its highest-ever consolidated revenue and profit in FY26, supported by growth across key sectors including sport utility vehicles (SUVs), tractors, electric mobility and other emerging businesses.
The Group attributed the record performance to its diversified portfolio, long-term strategy and disciplined execution across operations.
Mahindra also outlined the company’s vision for growth amid increasing global uncertainty, emphasising the importance of innovation, technology and adaptability in navigating a changing economic landscape.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a major focus area for the Group. CEO and Managing Director Dr Anish Shah said Mahindra is integrating AI across multiple businesses to improve operational efficiency, strengthen decision-making and enhance customer experiences.
According to Shah, the company is among a select group of Indian enterprises implementing AI across the organisation rather than restricting its use to specific departments.
The Group said its global recognition also increased during the year, with Mahindra being featured among TIME World’s Best Companies and receiving the Outstanding Company of the Year award at the India Business Leadership Awards.
The company further highlighted the expansion of its innovation pipeline, with its portfolio growing to more than 1,300 patents. Mahindra said this reflects its continued investment in research, technology and product development.
As global businesses seek greater supply chain resilience and new partnerships, Mahindra believes India’s role as a trusted economic bridge could become increasingly significant.
With strengths in manufacturing, technology, entrepreneurship and a growing consumer market, India is positioned to connect diverse economies and contribute to the next phase of global growth, he said.
