Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar continues to rewrite box office records even as it enters its fifth week in theatres, though early trends suggest a slowdown may be setting in. On its fifth Monday (day 32), the Aditya Dhar-directed spy thriller is expected to register its lowest single-day collection so far, signalling a natural cooling after an extraordinary run.
On Sunday (day 31), the film surprised the trade by bouncing back strongly, earning Rs 13.50 crore at the domestic box office. This pushed its total India collection to a staggering Rs 820.30 crore. The rebound ensured that Dhurandhar closed its fifth weekend on a high note, reaffirming its remarkable hold despite nearing a month since release.
The Sunday surge came after a noticeable dip on Friday (day 29), when the film earned Rs 8.75 crore — its first single-digit daily figure since release. This marked a sharp 44.44 per cent drop from Thursday’s Rs 15.75 crore and ended an unprecedented streak of double-digit daily earnings that lasted nearly four weeks. However, the weekend once again highlighted the film’s drawing power. On Saturday (day 30), Dhurandhar collected Rs 11.75 crore, comfortably returning to double digits.
The film has already created history by becoming the first Indian film to record double-digit domestic earnings every single day even in its fourth week. It is now officially the highest-grossing Bollywood film ever in India, having surpassed major blockbusters such as Chhaava, Stree 2 and Jawan. Production house Jio Studios confirmed on Sunday that the film crossed the Rs 800 crore milestone in India, making it the first original Hindi film to achieve the feat.
However, across all Indian languages, Dhurandhar still trails Pushpa 2: The Rule, which holds the record for the highest domestic collection at Rs 1,234.10 crore.
At the worldwide box office, Dhurandhar has already entered the elite Rs 1,100 crore club, with global earnings standing at over Rs 1,188 crore. As it edges closer to the Rs 1,200 crore mark, the film is poised to challenge KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 1,215 crore) and RRR (Rs 1,230 crore), currently the fourth and fifth highest-grossing Indian films globally. This places Dhurandhar firmly among the top five Indian earners of all time.
While the top three — Pushpa 2, Baahubali 2 and Dangal — remain distant targets, Dhurandhar has already cemented its legacy as one of the most commercially successful Hindi films ever made.
