Ranveer Singh’s action blockbuster Dhurandhar is set for a rare global re-release, building momentum ahead of the much-anticipated sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which hits cinemas worldwide on March 19, 2026.
The first instalment will return to theatres across approximately 500 screens globally, with 250 screens in India from March 12 and another 250 overseas beginning March 13. The move marks an unusual strategy for a Hindi film, as international re-releases remain relatively rare. However, the scale of this rollout reflects the franchise’s strong global following and the growing anticipation for its next chapter.
In North America alone, the film will screen across nearly 185 locations, signalling robust demand among overseas audiences. Industry observers view the re-release as both a promotional push and a way to reacquaint viewers with the story ahead of the sequel’s debut.
Adding to the excitement, Dhurandhar: The Revenge will host special premiere screenings across the United States and Canada on March 18, a day before its official global release. These early shows are being staged in Premium Large Format (PLF) cinemas, known for their immersive viewing experience, including expansive screens, enhanced projection quality and advanced sound systems such as Dolby Atmos. The premieres are already reporting strong advance bookings, with several shows selling out.
The sequel is presented by Jio Studios and produced by B62 Studios. It is written, directed and produced by Aditya Dhar, with Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar also backing the project.
Positioned as a high-octane spy-action thriller, the film will release in five languages — Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada — underscoring its pan-Indian appeal. Its release timing coincides with major festivals including Gudi Padwa, Ugadi and the lead-up to Eid, further boosting its box-office prospects.
The re-release strategy highlights a broader shift in film marketing, where studios are leveraging nostalgia and franchise recall to maximise audience engagement. By bringing the original back to cinemas, the makers aim to create a seamless build-up to the sequel, turning its release into a full-fledged cinematic event.
With strong fan interest, expansive distribution and a carefully timed rollout, the Dhurandhar franchise appears poised for another major box-office moment.
