Defence Minister Rajnath Singh targets LDF, UDF over corruption, appeasement, and Sabarimala gold theft ahead of Assembly polls…reports Asian Lite News Desk
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched a sharp political attack on Kerala’s ruling and opposition fronts on Wednesday, alleging that “not even God is safe in God’s Own Country.” Speaking in Paravur while campaigning for NDA candidate Vatsala Prasanna Kumari, Singh accused both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) of corruption and appeasement politics.
Invoking a Biblical analogy, Singh said Judas betrayed Jesus for silver coins and claimed the LDF had “betrayed Lord Ayyappa for gold.” He alleged that senior leaders were shielding those responsible for the purported Sabarimala gold theft, citing a photograph of a Congress leader alongside the accused. Singh demanded a CBI probe and strict action against those accused of looting public wealth.
Turning his fire on both fronts, Singh said the LDF and UDF are “two sides of the same coin” when it comes to corruption. “Their flags may be different, but their thinking is the same. They are friends in corruption,” he asserted.
Singh also raised concerns over extremist links, asking who would protect Kerala from groups like SDPI and Jamaat-e-Islami. “Only the BJP can safeguard the state,” he said.
Referencing the Malayalam film Ponman, Singh criticised what he described as a “gold obsession” among certain leaders, alleging that individuals close to the Chief Minister were the main beneficiaries. On the Munambam land controversy, he accused both LDF and UDF of indulging in appeasement politics and failing families facing eviction threats. He further claimed that Congress seeks electoral support from such organisations for political gain.
Urging voters to see the election as a fight against corruption and appeasement, Singh positioned the BJP as a credible alternative.
The Paravur contest features UDF candidate and Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan and LDF’s E.T. Tyson Master, a CPI MLA, setting up a high-stakes electoral battle in the constituency.
