Nivin Pauly is set to return to the big screen with the political thriller Prathichaya, which will release worldwide on March 26. Directed by B. Unnikrishnan, the film has already generated strong buzz following the release of its intense and thought-provoking trailer.
Announcing the release on social media, Nivin Pauly described the film as a story of legacy and destiny, hinting at a narrative that intertwines personal ambition with larger political forces. The trailer offers a layered glimpse into a world shaped by power struggles, ideological conflicts and moral ambiguity.
At the centre of the story is Pauly’s character, portrayed as a sharp political strategist operating within the inner circles of power. Through his voiceover, the film questions conventional definitions of success, invoking historical figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, E. M. S. Namboodiripad and A. K. Gopalan to challenge whether influence and legacy outweigh titles and wealth.
The narrative appears to delve deep into the mechanics of politics — from cabinet formations and alliance-building to the role of caste, religion and public perception. One of the film’s key themes is the idea that politics is driven not by individuals, but by carefully constructed images. Pauly’s character is also shown navigating ethical grey zones, with hints of corruption and manipulation adding complexity to his role.
