Tom Holland has made it clear that he has no plans to hang up Spider-Man’s suit anytime soon, revealing that he is happy to continue playing the beloved superhero for as long as audiences and studio bosses will have him.
The 30-year-old actor has portrayed Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter ego since 2016, appearing in multiple Marvel films and four standalone Spider-Man movies. With the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Holland says his affection for the character remains stronger than ever.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Holland said: “I will do it for as long as they’ll have me. So if this movie does good, I guess we’ll see!”
The actor described Spider-Man as one of the most relatable superheroes ever created, saying fans connect with Peter Parker because he is fundamentally an ordinary young man dealing with extraordinary circumstances.
“It’s honestly such a pleasure playing Spider-Man, and it is not something that I think I will ever get tired of,” Holland previously said during an interview on the Dish from Waitrose podcast. “People love him because he feels like just a regular human being. He’s so relatable.”
Holland also credited the close bond he shares with the cast and crew of the Spider-Man films for making the experience so rewarding. Having spent nearly a decade working with the same creative team, he describes the franchise as his cinematic homecoming.
“There’s a family here at Marvel and Sony,” he said. “We’ve been making these movies for 10 years and we’re all really good friends. When we all get together, it always feels like something magical happens.”
For Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Holland played a much larger role behind the scenes. He was invited into the writers’ room and collaborated closely with filmmakers on shaping the story. The actor spent months reading fan reactions online and brought their expectations into creative discussions.
“I felt like when I was in the room with the writers, I was the representative of the fans,” he explained.
Holland has described the new film as the funniest and most emotional Spider-Man movie yet. He revealed that his mother was moved to tears after watching an early screening, while a significant part of the film was inspired by one of his brother’s ideas, making the project especially meaningful for his family.
The actor also recently requested that filming schedules be adjusted so he could star in Christopher Nolan’s epic The Odyssey. Sony Pictures agreed to accommodate the opportunity, believing that the success of both films would ultimately benefit audiences and the Spider-Man franchise.
For Holland, Spider-Man remains the role of a lifetime—and one he hopes to continue playing for many years to come.
