Ambassadorial meeting highlights expanding strategic partnership between nations…reports Asian Lite News Desk
India and Thailand have held discussions on further strengthening their Strategic Partnership, with a focus on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, defence, security and cultural exchanges.
India’s Ambassador to Thailand, Puneet Agrawal, paid a courtesy call on Thailand’s Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, Vijavat Isarabhakdi, during which the two sides explored ways to deepen bilateral engagement, the Indian Embassy in Thailand said.
The discussions come amid growing defence and maritime cooperation between the two countries.
Last week, the 14th edition of the Indian Navy-Royal Thai Navy Staff Talks concluded in New Delhi. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to capacity building and training while identifying new areas for collaboration.
The talks were co-chaired by Rear Admiral Sachin R. Sequeira, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff, and Rear Admiral Chaksawat Saiwong, Director of the Office of Policy and Planning at the Royal Thai Navy’s Naval Operations Department.
Earlier in July, Indian Naval ships INS Udaygiri, INS Shakti and INS Kavaratti of the Eastern Fleet conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with Royal Thai Navy vessel HTMS Chao Phraya following their visit to Sattahip.
The exercise focused on enhancing interoperability between the two navies and reaffirmed their shared commitment to maritime security and regional stability.
The latest diplomatic engagement reflects continued efforts by New Delhi and Bangkok to broaden their Strategic Partnership across economic, security, defence and people-to-people ties.
