India and Thailand reviewed the full spectrum of their defence ties and explored ways to deepen cooperation in emerging areas during the 10th India-Thailand Defence Dialogue held in Bangkok.
The talks, held on Tuesday, were co-chaired by Satyajit Mohanty, Joint Secretary in India’s Ministry of Defence, and Nuttapol Diewvanich, Thailand’s Deputy Permanent Secretary for Defence.
According to India’s Ministry of Defence, both sides exchanged views on regional and global security developments and discussed the evolving strategic landscape in the Indo-Pacific region.
The two countries reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the region through closer defence and security cooperation.
During the dialogue, the delegations reviewed progress made since the previous round of talks and assessed ongoing military-to-military engagements, training exchanges, capacity-building initiatives and maritime cooperation.
Officials also discussed opportunities to further expand collaboration in defence industry partnerships.
“The dialogue also reviewed the ongoing defence industry cooperation between the two countries. The two sides discussed opportunities to deepen collaboration in defence manufacturing, research, innovation and capability development, with a view to promoting mutually beneficial partnerships between their respective defence ecosystems,” the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
The discussions additionally covered cooperation under regional and multilateral defence mechanisms, including ASEAN-led frameworks.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening practical cooperation and addressing shared security challenges through sustained dialogue and collaboration.
The meeting concluded with discussions on future engagements and a roadmap for advancing bilateral defence ties.
India and Thailand elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership in 2025, providing fresh momentum to cooperation across defence, trade, connectivity and regional security.
Following the dialogue, the Embassy of India in Bangkok said the two countries reviewed ongoing cooperation across multiple domains and explored ways to intensify engagement under the bilateral strategic partnership.
“Both sides reviewed all aspects of the ongoing activities in different domains and discussed ways to further intensify engagements, especially in new and emerging areas, under the bilateral strategic partnership and various regional frameworks,” the embassy said in a statement posted on X.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the relationship, the embassy noted that India and Thailand are maritime neighbours and that Thailand remains a key partner in India’s Act East Policy and its broader Indo-Pacific vision.
