President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has reaffirmed the depth and breadth of the United Arab Emirates’ strategic partnership with the United States during a high-level meeting in Abu Dhabi with Massad Boulos, the US President’s Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs.
The meeting, held at Qasr Al Shati, focused on the steady expansion of UAE-US relations and the importance of sustained coordination across political, security and humanitarian domains. Both sides reviewed regional developments and exchanged views on issues of shared concern, underscoring their joint commitment to promoting peace, de-escalation and long-term stability in a region facing multiple and complex challenges.
The discussions reflected the enduring strength of ties between Abu Dhabi and Washington, rooted in decades of strategic cooperation and a shared approach to addressing regional crises through dialogue, diplomacy and collective action. The meeting also highlighted the role of close consultation in navigating geopolitical uncertainty and reinforcing stability across the Middle East and beyond.
Senior Emirati leaders attended the meeting, including H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; and Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, alongside a number of senior officials. Their presence underlined the importance the UAE places on strategic dialogue with the United States at the highest levels.
The meeting comes amid ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two countries on key regional flashpoints, including Sudan, where the humanitarian situation has sharply deteriorated following months of conflict. In December, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed welcomed statements by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Sudan at the start of the new year to enable humanitarian organisations to deliver life-saving assistance across the country.
Sheikh Abdullah praised the emphasis placed by the United States on humanitarian de-escalation and the urgent need to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people. He reiterated that an immediate ceasefire and the safe, unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid remain the highest priorities, both to protect civilians and to address escalating humanitarian needs on the ground.
The UAE’s top diplomat also stressed that a halt to fighting is essential to create space for a political process that can lead to an independent, civilian-led transition reflecting the aspirations of the Sudanese people for peace, security and stability. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to working closely within the Quad framework, led by the United States, noting that a ceasefire would strengthen international efforts to support a sustainable political solution that puts the interests of the Sudanese people first.
Beyond diplomacy and security, UAE-US relations continue to be reinforced through cultural and people-to-people engagement, as highlighted by a recent visit of a US Consulate delegation to the Sharjah Art Museum during the 26th edition of the Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival. The delegation, led by Robert Raines, US Consul-General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, attended the festival as part of ongoing cultural outreach between the two countries.
