Prime Minister poses for group photograph and holds bilateral talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov on sidelines of regional meeting…reports Asian Lite News Desk
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday joined fellow leaders for a group photograph at the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, where he is taking part in key discussions of the regional grouping.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi arrived at the summit venue and received a warm welcome from the hosts.
On the sidelines of the summit, Modi held a bilateral meeting with Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Zhaparov, during which the two leaders reviewed progress in India-Kyrgyzstan relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the Strategic Partnership.
The discussions are expected to provide fresh momentum to cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
Modi had arrived in the Kyrgyz capital on Sunday to attend the SCO Summit and was greeted by members of the Indian community, who welcomed him with chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram”.
“From Bharat to Bishkek, a very special welcome by the Indian community earlier this evening,” Modi said in a post on X.
The Prime Minister also witnessed cultural performances by Kyrgyz artists and yoga enthusiasts as part of the welcome programme.
He was received at Manas International Airport by Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Ahead of his two-nation tour of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, Modi said India had been an “active and constructive member” of the SCO since joining the grouping in 2017.
He said India would continue to advance its vision for the region centred on “Security, Connectivity and Opportunity”, while working with fellow SCO members towards a region free from terrorism, separatism and extremism.
Modi’s participation in the Bishkek summit underscores India’s continued engagement with Central Asia and its efforts to deepen regional cooperation through the SCO framework.
