Rights groups demand whereabouts and release of two doctors and a previously disappeared civilian…reports Asian Lite News Desk
Three civilians have allegedly been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces in Balochistan, human rights organisations said on Wednesday, amid continued reports of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings across the province.
Paank, the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement, said two doctors, 28-year-old Mahir Mazar and 28-year-old Jamshair Baloch, were allegedly taken by Pakistani forces from the Turbat area of Kech district in the early hours of Tuesday.
Their whereabouts and legal status remain unknown, while their families have reportedly been denied information about their condition or access to them, Paank said.
The rights organisation described the alleged forcible removal and concealment of the two men’s whereabouts as a violation of fundamental human rights and called on Pakistani authorities to immediately disclose their location and legal status.
It also demanded that the two doctors be granted access to their families and legal counsel and released without delay.
Paank called for an end to what it described as “nocturnal raids, arbitrary detentions, and the systematic practice of enforced disappearances” in Balochistan, while urging authorities to ensure accountability and protect the rights of those subjected to such operations.
Separately, the Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) said Qadir Bakhsh Baloch was taken into custody by security forces on September 6 while travelling from Baghbana to Khuzdar and subsequently moved to an undisclosed location.
“This is the third time he has reportedly been subjected to enforced disappearance,” the rights group said, adding that he had previously been forcibly disappeared on two occasions.
BVJ called for Qadir’s immediate, safe and unconditional release and urged Pakistani authorities to disclose his whereabouts.
The latest allegations come amid longstanding concerns raised by rights groups over enforced disappearances, arbitrary detentions and alleged extrajudicial killings in Balochistan.
