79% Of UAE Economy Now Non-Oil

Minister Saeed Al Hajeri says non-oil sectors now contribute nearly 79 per cent of UAE GDP as investor confidence remains strong despite global uncertainty, reports Asian Lite News Desk

The United Arab Emirates’ non-oil economy now contributes nearly 79 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), underscoring the success of its long-term economic diversification strategy, according to Minister of State Saeed Al Hajeri.

Speaking on the resilience of the UAE economy amid continuing global and regional uncertainty, Al Hajeri said the country has maintained investor confidence despite geopolitical tensions, with around 98 per cent of foreign investment flows remaining unaffected in recent months.

The minister said the UAE’s economic performance reflects strong institutional foundations, world-class infrastructure and an ability to adapt quickly to changing global market conditions.

“Our economic strength stems from historically solid fundamentals, global connectivity, institutional depth and an ability to be agile in response to changing market forces,” Al Hajeri said in a statement.

He added that these strengths position the UAE to emerge stronger despite current geopolitical challenges, reinforcing its reputation as one of the world’s most resilient and competitive economies.

One of the strongest indicators of that resilience, Al Hajeri noted, is the continued confidence of international investors. Around 98 per cent of foreign investment in the UAE has remained unaffected in recent months, demonstrating sustained trust in the country’s institutions, economic policies and long-term development strategy.

The minister highlighted the rapid expansion of non-oil industries, which now account for almost 79 per cent of the UAE’s GDP in 2025. The milestone reflects years of government efforts to reduce reliance on hydrocarbon revenues by developing sectors such as finance, logistics, advanced manufacturing, technology, tourism and renewable energy.

According to Al Hajeri, these industries benefit from a highly developed business ecosystem supported by world-class infrastructure, trusted financial institutions and advanced logistics and energy capabilities.

He also pointed to the country’s substantial financial strength, noting that the UAE’s sovereign wealth assets are valued at approximately US$2.49 trillion. Combined with an expanding network of international trade partnerships, the country is well positioned to drive future economic growth.

The UAE currently has access to 37 Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPAs), providing businesses with greater opportunities to expand into international markets while strengthening trade and investment links across multiple regions.

Al Hajeri said the UAE has firmly established itself as a global centre for capital, commerce and skilled talent, consistently ranking among the world’s most competitive destinations for business and investment.

Rather than simply preserving its current economic momentum, the government is focused on accelerating growth by investing in emerging industries that will shape the future economy.

The minister identified artificial intelligence, advanced industries, financial services, international trade and digital infrastructure as key pillars of the country’s next phase of development.

These investments, he said, are designed to generate new opportunities for future generations while enhancing the UAE’s global competitiveness in high-value sectors.

Al Hajeri also highlighted the country’s diverse and multicultural workforce as one of its greatest economic strengths. More than 200 nationalities now live and work in the UAE, creating a dynamic business environment that supports innovation, entrepreneurship and global collaboration.

He said this diversity has helped reinforce the UAE’s position as a preferred destination for international professionals, investors and businesses seeking access to regional and global markets.

Concluding his remarks, Al Hajeri invited investors, companies and strategic partners from around the world to participate in the UAE’s next stage of economic growth.

He said the country offers unparalleled access to fast-growing industries, expanding global markets and one of the world’s most stable, business-friendly and competitive operating environments.
