US President Joe Biden hosted first White House state dinner celebrating the return of large social events after Covid-19 pandemic.

The event drew big names from fashion, entertainment, politics and business who turned out to help celebrate along with the high profile guest – French President Emmanuel Macron, media reported.

There were kisses all around as the Bidens stepped out on the North Portico to welcome the Macrons — Jill Biden in an off-the-shoulder navy Oscar de la Renta gown, Brigitte Macron in a high-necked ivory one by Louis Vuitton, news agency PTI reported.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards and Gov. John Carney, from Biden’s home state of Delaware, were the first to arrive at the venue.

Biden’s son Hunter and daughter Ashley, and sister Valerie Biden were also present at the event.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus whizzed by the press, pausing only to say that, yes, she’d been to a state dinner before and it was all “very exciting.” Late-night TV host Stephen Colbert said nothing as guests passed through a White House decorated for the holidays and boarded trolleys for the ride down the South Lawn to a heated party tent, PTI reported.

Shoe designer Christian Louboutin and Vogue editor Anna Wintour also were among the 338 names on the guest list.

Others attending: “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts, actor Jennifer Garner, singer John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Ada Limon, poet laureate of the United States, it was reported.

Outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy, who hopes to succeed Pelosi, were also there.
