Ongoing elections to choose future of J&K, says Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged voters in Jammu and Kashmir to cast their votes wisely in the ongoing Assembly elections, calling them crucial for the future of the region.

Addressing a rally in Katra, Reasi district, Modi called for an end to the political dominance of the Congress, National Conference (NC), and People’s Democratic Party (PDP), accusing them of harming the region for years.

He emphasised that these parties “inflicted wounds” on the people and urged voters to ensure their political decline by supporting the BJP.

Modi, who held two rallies in Jammu and Kashmir on the same day, reiterated his government’s commitment to restoring statehood to the region.

He also pledged to completely eliminate terrorism and separatism, which he said have weakened since the abrogation of Article 370.

He described the elections as a pivotal moment to usher Jammu and Kashmir into a new era of development, focusing on the region’s progress.

Accusing Congress of disrespecting Hindu gods and goddesses as part of a “well-thought-out conspiracy” stemming from a “Naxal mindset,” the Prime Minister said the BJP prioritises the welfare of the region.

He credited his government with ending years of discrimination and pushing the region toward prosperity. Modi also reiterated the BJP’s election slogan, “Abki baar, BJP sarkar,” emphasizing the party’s role in safeguarding Jammu and Kashmir’s interests.

During the rally, Modi also sent a strong message to neighbouring Pakistan amid its attempts to ‘hobnob with like-minded’ parties in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and said that no power in the world can bring back Article 370 in the Valley.

“I am saying loud and clear that we will not allow Pakistan to run its agenda in Jammu and Kashmir,” thundered PM Modi while addressing his second poll rally in Jammu’s Katra.

Taking note of Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s statement on Article 370, PM Modi said that admiration of the Congress-NC manifesto by the neighbouring country “exposes their unholy” alliance.

PM Modi said that the BJP would never allow such a thing to happen.

“Pakistani Defence minister said that the agenda of the Congress-NC alliance on Article 370 and 35A is the same as that of Pakistan. Congress and NC stand exposed today with the Pakistani minister openly expressing support for their poll promises on Article 370. This means that the NC-Congress alliance wants to impose Pakistan’s agenda in Kashmir,” PM Modi told the gathering.

“The BJP will never allow their agenda to succeed,” he said.

PM Modi accused the Congress and NC of “working against India’s interests”, despite knowing that Pakistani infiltrators inflicted deep wounds on residents of J&K.

“Pakistan’s wicked and nefarious plots killed our brothers and sisters but they want to align with them. For decades, they have been doing the same thing that their Pakistani bosses wanted them to do,” he said.
