Trump Media’s Loss Explodes To $238 Million

Trump Media & Technology Group reported a $238 million net loss in the second quarter of 2026 despite revenue rising 89 per cent year-on-year….reports Asian Lite News Desk

US President Donald Trump’s media conglomerate, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), reported a net loss of $238 million in the second quarter of 2026, despite recording revenue of $1.7 million, Al Jazeera reported, citing the company’s latest filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

In a filing issued on Monday, TMTG attributed most of its quarterly loss to $190.4 million in unrealised losses on digital assets, digital assets pledged and equity securities.

The company also reported $11.7 million in accrued interest and $8.1 million in stock-based compensation, according to Al Jazeera.

Accrued interest refers to interest that has accumulated but has not yet been paid and is added to the principal amount of a loan.

Despite the substantial loss, TMTG said its revenue for the April-June quarter rose 89 per cent from the same period a year earlier. However, the company’s losses continued to far exceed its earnings.

Nearly all of TMTG’s revenue came from its media business, which generated $1.43 million from advertising and $179,500 from subscriptions, according to the SEC filing cited by Al Jazeera.

The latest figures bring TMTG’s net loss for the first half of 2026 to $644 million, compared with revenue of $2.5 million.

The company’s shares, which trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker DJT, fell 8 per cent by the close of trading on Monday, Al Jazeera reported.

TMTG’s portfolio includes Truth Social, its social media platform, Truth+, a video streaming service, and Truth.Fi, a financial technology brand.

Over the past year, the company has expanded into cryptocurrency and, from August 1, market intelligence through its subscription-based Truth API service.

Truth API provides investors with faster access to posts published on Truth Social, where Trump frequently makes statements on policy issues, including tariffs and the US-Israel war on Iran, according to Al Jazeera.

TMTG interim CEO Kevin McGurn said during an earnings call on Monday that 10 companies had already subscribed to the service, paying between $60,000 and $100,000 a month in fees.

The service has also raised concerns over potential conflicts of interest because of the influence Trump’s social media posts can have on financial markets, Al Jazeera reported.

Despite TMTG’s expansion into new areas, Truth Social continues to lag behind major rival platforms such as X and Facebook in terms of users.

The New York Times reported on Monday, citing data from online tracking company Similarweb, that visits to Truth Social in July were down by more than one-third compared with the same month a year earlier.

The latest financial results highlight the gap between TMTG’s growing business ambitions and its current revenue, with the company continuing to report substantial losses despite expanding its portfolio into digital assets, financial services and market intelligence.
