A 21-year-old woman who suffered critical injuries during a protest-related incident at Jantar Mantar has been taken off ventilator support after showing significant improvement, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital authorities said on Wednesday.
The hospital said the patient has been successfully extubated and is now breathing independently. She is conscious, responding appropriately to commands, and her MRI scans of the brain and spine have shown normal results.
“Her clinical condition has been showing steady improvement since the initiation of treatment, and she continues to receive comprehensive medical care under the close supervision of the treating team,” RML Hospital said in a statement.
The decision to remove her from ventilator support was taken after doctors observed encouraging progress in her condition.
The hospital also clarified that she remains the only person admitted at RML Hospital in connection with the reported incident and is receiving continuous monitoring and necessary medical care.

Delhi Police said that more than 118 police personnel and around 60 protesters were injured during clashes. The force also reported that over 20 police vehicles were damaged during the unrest.
The police action and injuries during the protest have drawn attention, with authorities continuing to assess the circumstances surrounding the incident. The woman’s improving condition has provided relief as medical teams continue her treatment and observation.
