Foreign ministers of the Quad nations will meet in New Delhi on May 26 for high level discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region amid evolving geopolitical and economic challenges.
The meeting will be hosted by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and attended by Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit reflects continued high level engagement among Quad partners and reaffirms their shared commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
The ministers are expected to review progress on existing Quad initiatives and discuss ways to expand cooperation in areas including maritime security, resilient supply chains, infrastructure, emerging technologies, climate action and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
The discussions will also cover recent developments in the Indo-Pacific region and broader international issues of mutual concern.
The MEA said the meeting would build on earlier discussions held in Washington in July 2025 as member nations seek deeper coordination on regional stability and economic resilience.
During the visit, the foreign ministers of Australia and Japan, along with Rubio, are also expected to hold bilateral meetings with Jaishankar and call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ahead of his India visit, Rubio said the United States was looking to deepen energy ties with India and strengthen cooperation through the Quad framework amid concerns over global supply disruptions linked to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking before departing for India via Europe, Rubio described India as a “great ally” and “great partner” and said Washington was prepared to expand energy exports to New Delhi as uncertainty grows in global oil and gas markets.
