FS meets Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina

Earlier on Tuesday, Foreign Secretary Shringla began a two-day visit to Bangladesh, a day after the Maitri Diwas celebrations, with an aim to review the wide-ranging cooperation between the two countries….reports Asian Lite news

Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Wednesday called on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and discussed the forthcoming visit of Indian President Ram Nath Kovind next week.

President Kovind’s visit will mark 50 years of Victory Day and Liberation of Bangladesh.

In his meeting with PM Hasina, Shringla also conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 50th anniversary of Maitri Diwas and noted the successful joint celebration of Maitri Diwas in 16 countries in addition to New Delhi and Dhaka, as per a Twitter post of the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh.

Earlier on Tuesday, Foreign Secretary Shringla began a two-day visit to Bangladesh, a day after the Maitri Diwas celebrations, with an aim to review the wide-ranging cooperation between the two countries.

In Dhaka, he met Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and reflected on progress in bilateral ties on all fronts in this special year marking 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh.

He also Shringla also called on Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and reviewed wide-ranging and growing cooperation between two countries including Covid cooperation.

The visiting Indian Foreign Secretary met with Bangladesh’s Minister for Road Transport and Bridges and Awami League Generaal Secretary Obaidul Quader and discussed the all-encompassing bilateral cooperation including connectivity between the two countries.

India’s relationship with Bangladesh is one of the strongest pillars of its “Neighbourhood First Policy”.

In this special year, India and Bangladesh are jointly commemorating 50 years of the establishment of their diplomatic ties, it had added.
