An evening of music, dignity and inclusion at the Abu Dhabi BAPS Mandir celebrates People of Determination, uniting leaders, families and communities in a powerful message of harmony….reports Asian Lite News
The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi hosted an evocative evening of music, inclusion and shared humanity with its special programme, A Symphony of Harmony, dedicated to celebrating People of Determination. The event, held in the presence of members of the UAE leadership, community representatives, families and well-wishers, drew more than 500 guests who gathered to honour the values of dignity, empowerment and compassion.
The highlight was a spellbinding piano performance by 15-year-old Emirati pianist and composer Ahmed Al Hashemi, an internationally recognised young artist on the autism spectrum. His recital featured eight pieces ranging from original compositions to timeless classics, including Beethoven. Each piece resonated with the audience, but it was Dark to Light—a composition created especially for the Mandir—that left the most profound impact. The work traced humanity’s emotional journey from challenge to calm, mirroring the evening’s broader message of resilience and harmony.
Ahmed spoke with quiet clarity about his aim to use music as a bridge. He said he wanted to offer love, peace and understanding through his performance, adding that the world becomes kinder when people listen to one another. His message aligned seamlessly with the UAE’s celebration of Tolerance Day and the Mandir’s growing role as a cultural and spiritual centre embracing all communities.
During the interlude, Swami Brahmaviharidas, head of the BAPS Hindu Mandir, reflected on the courage displayed by People of Determination and the transformative power of music. He also expressed gratitude to the UAE leadership for championing inclusion and human dignity through sustained social initiatives.
The Mandir honoured Ahmed with a bespoke memento symbolising the harmony of faith, art and the human spirit. His mother, Eiman Alaleeli, was also recognised for her steadfast support. Members of the UAE leadership and community figures, including Brigadier Hamed, H.E. Mubarak Al Ameri, H.E. Mohamed Al Balooshi, Zubin Karkaria and Dr Vibu Bose, were acknowledged for their continued encouragement.
A warm post-performance interaction between People of Determination, dignitaries and guests rounded off the evening, reinforcing a shared sense of equality and human connection. The event further affirmed the Mandir’s role as a beacon of unity, compassion and coexistence in the Emirates.
