Posts circulating on Chinese online platforms have described India’s emergence with phrases such as “China’s Stalingrad for photovoltaics” and “China’s photovoltaic fortress breached from within by India,” reflecting concerns over the pace of India’s manufacturing growth.
The discussions gained momentum after posts on X highlighted India’s sharp increase in solar component production alongside reports of mounting financial pressure on several Chinese photovoltaic companies.
One widely shared post claimed India’s solar manufacturing capacity has expanded 17-fold since 2018, arguing that the country’s rapid industrial growth is contributing to increased competition for Chinese manufacturers.
